The 2.20-metre-wide house was built in 1751 in what was once a fire lane. In this narrow passageway, leather buckets filled with water from the nearby River Oker used to be hurriedly carried through to the burning half-timbered houses. Now, the narrow house blends harmoniously in with the slightly older neighbouring houses.
It is the narrowest house in Wolfenbüttel and a real gem even beyond the region’s borders. With over 100m² of living space, it boasts surprisingly spacious rooms, which you would hardly guess from the outside. The idyllic 80m² garden is a true oasis right in the heart of the town!
In 1994, the building underwent a major refurbishment and even won an award. Inside, a modern industrial-style design was created, providing a striking contrast to the half-timbered structure. The 12-metre-high spiral staircase and the red steel core create a unique living experience.
